A special first week for a very special school. Lots of love felt in this capture of teachers, admin, and students creating a positive culture of community, kindness, and JOY! Happy New Year!!
With new updates to the way Canvas links observers to student accounts, be sure to check out the two resources posted below!!
Parent OverviewWhat have we been up to? Three letters: LMS. Beyond deployment, orientations, set up and restriction of devices, digital citizenship lessons and CBL, the implementation of our new Learning Management System - CANVAS has been a majority of our days. It's fair to say the learning for us all has been immeasurable. But for me, it's the growth that Canvas has caused in relationships that has surprisingly captured my interest the most. Administrators, teachers and support staff are coming together to use this platform (at varying levels) to create meaningful learning opportunities that increase student engagement; providing teachers more time to reflect on data and design more targeted instruction AS A TEAM. The burden that I once observed (and lived) as a teacher independently carrying a load much greater than themselves is now shared as a team and unit that utilizes each other's strengths to move ALL students forward; rather than relying solely on their own personal strengths and minimum time. With Canvas, everyone is a participant in the learning of their community. And while we have still a great distance to go, knowing the power that can evolve from conversations surrounding the leverage Canvas brings to the table, gives me hope in the future of our district and the determination to help ALL better understand its capacity based on their needs, readiness and expectation to learn and grow. Below are several pictures and reflections from the implementation journey this year. It's these interactions that have provided me an understanding of the process; making conversations relevant and strategies and examples real. We are ALL learning this together; the only way to do so is DIG IN, ask questions and make mistakes! You can't break it...I PROMISE. If you could, I would have done it by now...rest assured! *BE SURE TO CHECK OUT TEACHER TESTIMONIALS BELOW PHOTOS! It's their tremendous effort to learn, take risks and reflect openly that take the Canvas journey beyond simply a LMS implementation; but rather a positive shift in the culture of PLC's. A REFLECTIVE PICTURE WALK THROUGH OUR IMPLEMENTATION OF CANVAS... How many times do you observe 'community' in these photos? PLC Testimonials |
